ABOUT ME:
My background is in nursing. I spent ten years working in many different disciplines within the NHS as a Registered General Nurse (RGN.) This has informed my practice significantly and reassures my clients. Since 1996 I have trained in numerous therapies. This enables me to offer a more holistic approach to natural healthcare & well-being, based on Chinese medicine principles, which have been tested, researched and refined for over 2,000 years.
I offer a 1 to 1 service, tailored to the individual. My approach is friendly, empathic & relaxed. My service is affordable, safe and effective.
TRAINING:
I completed a four year training in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at The Northern College of Acupuncture (NCA) in York.
I am proud to offer Acupuncture, Moxibustion, Cupping, Massage, Dietary & Lifestyle advice. Additionally, I studied Chinese herbs.
I have been in practice since 2003, and remain ever passionate and inspired – working in the field of “energy medicine.”

INFORMATION ABOUT ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENT:
You will be asked to complete a detailed Consultation Form, collating information about all bodily systems, medical & surgical history, medication, diet and lifestyle. A pulse and tongue examination will be made, too. Based on the information gleaned, a diagnosis will be made, and a treatment plan formulated, to ensure that each treatment is holistic and tailored to meet the individual’s needs, facilitating healing on a Mind, Body, Spirit level. Fine, sterile, single-use, disposable needles are inserted painlessly at specific acupuncture points to rebalance the body’s energy system. The needles may be left in for approximately 20 minutes, give or take. Adjunctive therapies (listed above) may be used. How many treatments are needed? This depends on your age and general state of health, the severity & duration of the problem, plus your compliance with treatment! Benefits are progressive and cumulative, and would normally begin following the initial treatment.
Weekly sessions are quite usual to begin with, for perhaps four to six treatments, reducing in frequency as your body responds.
Sometimes just 1 or 2 treatments may suffice for a young, fit person, with an acute problem.
Remember that in order for acupuncture to work, you actually need to have acupuncture – as prescribed!
Acute, Chronic, Degenerative & Recurring conditions can be addressed by TCM. Sometimes we can make sense of an illness that orthodox medicine has difficulty treating. In many cases, treatment can help to reduce or eliminate the need for medication.
You do not have to be unwell to benefit from acupuncture, as treatment helps with general relaxation & helps maintain the body’s equilibrium.

I trained as a Usui Reiki Master, and have practiced Usui & Karuna Reiki since 2001. I am qualified in Access Bars; and spent two years training in Bi-Aura Healing.
